Rise from the Ashes

Rise from the Ashes

COVID-19 has been a wake-up call. It’s forced us to justify, verify, and ratify the validity, necessity, and relevance of our work.

My dad has initiated more successful and transformative enterprises in his lifetime than I can even begin to count. A gentleman in awe of Dad’s Midas touch once asked him, “How is it that everything you do prospers?”

My Dad laughed and said,

“You see my victories, my failures are hidden from you, but not from me. I have failed more than I have succeeded. It is on the ashes of those failures that all my success has been built.”

Failure can teach you as much as – sometimes even more than — success. When you can pinpoint a misstep, you can correct it and you can learn from it.

Maya Angelou says, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
