It’s my Mom’s Birthday today, not sure what they’re like in Heaven, but since my Mom is there I know there’s great food, deep conversation and a lot of laughter. Here’s a reflection she left me about her Mom on her Birthday. ‘Still miss my mother after lo these many years. Helen Crabtree was a great Bible teacher; business woman; co-pastor with my dad; great cook; most of all, wonderful mother. She had a different twist on the scripture, "Train them up in the way they should go . . ." She discovered each of her 4 children's unique gifts, and encouraged them in that gift. We weren't allowed to stay home from school unless we had a fever of at least 120 degrees and then it was an aspirin and to bed. I contacted poison ivy, and was supposed to have my leg amputated because rigamortis was setting in. Mother fasted and prayed for two days; the third day, I was healed. Prayer and the Word were the answer to everything. Born to wealth, she gave it all up to pioneer churches throughout New England and Canada with my dad. She died the same day as Howard Hughes, then one of the richest men in the world. Few were at his gravesite. Busloads of people came to mother's funeral to honor the woman who "in losing her life, found it". What a role model! What a heritage! Mom, I rise to call you blessed . . Hazel Hoskins. I do the same....
