It’s been a rough year for Dad with health challenges for him and Helen- but, his irrepressible optimism and unwavering faith in the hard and difficult times are one of his many gifts that has laid the foundation for who I am. I’ve been looking forward to meeting Joby for a while now, and wow did he bring an incredible word to OneHope’s chapel today! It is so clear that Joby loves missions and the Word of God passionately, and I believe God gave us a special message and reminder through his word today. Thank you, Joby, for reminding us at OneHope of the amazing privilege we have to serve God’s family around the world and to be good and faithful servants with every opportunity the Lord gives us.

By 2030, 70 million people in the United States will be over 65 years old, according to census data; for the first time, the country will have more seniors than children. We need to be Grandinfluencers to spend our time serving, loving and nurturing the next generation. What if Baby Boomers committed ourselves to the Shema of Deuteronomy 6 for the rest of our days and would “love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our being, and all our might” (v. 5)? What if we would place the highest value of passing this conviction on to younger generations to spare them the tragic results of what we see happening in our culture, nation and world? What if we would follow the command to “teach these principles diligently to our children and grandchildren and talk of them when we sit in our house, and when we walk by the way, and when we lie down, and when we rise up (v6)? What if we saw this as a holy calling more important then our leisure, wealth preservation, political engagement or personal pleasure or privilege? What if we sought out spiritually orphaned children and grandchildren in our churches, neighborhoods and communities who don’t have a loving Papa, Nana, Grandpa or Grandma to love them? Could it be that this simple, but sacrificial command, instituted at the outset of God’s covenant with His people, in every generation, could turn the tide, renew our churches, restore our cities, save our children and heal our land?

So proud of @matthewhanner, our son in law, graduating from @columbialawschool tonight. At 29 he decided to pursue law, and like everything he does he pursued it with his whole heart. He has such a passion for justice and I know God will use him in incredible ways. We love you Matt.

Thanks everyone from around the world for your pra

Thanks everyone from around the world for your prayers for Dad. Just talked to the surgeon, it was a long surgery because he made the decision to try and go in laparoscopically, rather then open him up. This was unexpected because of Dad’s multiple cancer surgeries for colon, Rectal, bladder and prostate and all the ensuing hernias associated with these procedures. He said it was very tricky and that's why it lasted 4 hrs, but he was successful and removed the gallbladder with no complications. Thank you Jesus. For this reason he just has 3 small incision stitches and could go home tomorrow or the day after. So grateful for the outpouring of love, concern and prayer!!!
