Symbiotic Mentoring

Symbiotic Mentoring

All mentorship should be a two-way street. You should both be benefiting. Mentoring is a symbiotic relationship, not a parasitic one.

Watch out for the signs of a parasitic mentorship.

  • They use your influence or standing for their own gain, but never offer any value to you.

  • They aren’t flexible or understanding when plans change and you need to reschedule.

  • They dominate the conversation or your meetings.

If you notice any of these, it’s likely time to move on.
