It’s hard for me to fully express the impact tha

It’s hard for me to fully express the impact that Dr. George Wood had on my life and ministry. I vividly remember being a senior in college and going through a painful season in my life. Dr. Wood preached a sermon and I went forward to pray for direction. That night at the altar, he prayed a prophetic prayer over my life that reminded and challenged me about who I was and what God wanted from me. Over the years, Dr. Wood continued to pour into my life as a mentor and a friend to @onehopeministry. We dreamed together about a global collaborative effort to help mobilize the Assemblies of God to grow to 1 million churches by the year 2033. The loss of his prayer, his preaching, and his friendship as a mentor will be missed, but it is with joy I think about his presence now with Jesus and with the cloud of witnesses that will cheer us on to the bright and beautiful day of our eternal destiny.

Someone recently asked me ‘What best defines your leadership?’ The capstone of my management and leadership, as well as my passion, has been a commitment to OUTCOMES. Beginning with the end in mind and a rigorous pursuit of measuring what matters.

Lincoln’s original Proclamation establishing Thanksgiving should be a guide and prophetic call to America in our present state. Notice it is actually a Day of Thanksgiving and PRAISE. ‘set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens’. Lincoln acknowledges the glory belongs to God: ‘we are prone to forget the source from which they come’, ‘the ever watchful providence of Almighty God’, ‘No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God’. Secondly, he calls for repentance: ‘while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy’, ’humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience’. Finally, a commitment to action for the sake of unity: ‘augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom’, ‘commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged’. Our nation has been in an ever increasing cultural war, ripping at the fabric of our values, sowing toxic discord and painful division. On this Day of Thanksgiving and Praise I acknowledge my God from who all blessings flow, I repent of my sins and deficiencies that have caused any harm and I pledge, in Lincoln’s words,‘to heal the wounds of the nation and restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.’
